In Madagascar, 19,300 primary schools participated in a week-long event. Handwashing with soap activities involving schools and the community culminated on October 15th with 3.5 million children washing hands with soap at noon. Three Ministries issued a joint statement to the Prime Minister to make Global Handwashing Day an official event.
